The Danish Institute for Advanced Study seeks outstanding candidates to fill several positions at the assistant professor level in the research areas of interest for the centre.

The position is sponsored by, and located at, the University of Southern Denmark in Odense and starts autumn 2017.

The appointment is for four years with the possibility for a subsequent two years of employment as associate professor.

The successfull candidate is expected to work at the forefront of research in the areas of Medieval European Literature, History of Art or History. We are especially interested in candidates who cross Literature and History of Art or History.

We are among the leading international research groups in the literary history of Medieval Europe and in interdisciplinary work between the study of pre-modern literature and history (sdu.dk/cml). A successful candidate with emphasis on Art history will be expected to open up this field at the Faculty of Humanities and engage with other research groups interested in visual culture, pre-modern or modern. A successful candidate with emphasis on History will be expected to engage with the programme and research at the department of History and with other research groups of relevance in the Faculty and beyond (pre-modern and modern).

The successful candidate will have a strong international profile, a strong record of research publications, and have demonstrated exceptional potential to Excel in Scientific research.

The Danish IAS at SDU is a research centre that aims to inspire ground-breaking ideas through the meeting of minds across the sciences and humanities. Application, salary, etc.
This assistant professorship is a 4-year position with a possibility of extension for up to 2 years. Employment stops automatically by the end of the period.

To qualify for the position you must have completed a PhD-degree by the application deadline.

Applications will be assessed by an expert assessment panel. All applicants will receive the part of the panel’s assessment that is relevant to their application.
The panel may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the aplicant to provide the necessary material.

AS part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, a job interview will be held.

It applies for all positions that they will only cover teaching requirements from related areas, including interdisciplinary teaching activities and Cand. Negot. courses.

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations), Cirkulære om overenskomst for Akademikere i staten 2015 (the document only exists in Danish).

Research will be predominant in this position. Teaching will occur to a limited degree.
